Riverhill Lodge appears in Alastair Sawday's guide and website

Riverhill is a mile or so east of Petworth and some 12 miles north of Chichester.

Petworth is famous for its wealth of antique shops. The ancient hill town is in the lea of Petworth House - now National Trust. A further favourite local National Trust property is Uppark www.nationaltrust.org.uk.

Parham, ‘one of England’s top twenty houses’ (England’s 1000 Best Houses by Simon Jenkins) www.parhaminsussex.co.uk is a few miles away and Arundel Castle, seat of the Dukes of Norfolk, is just over the South Downs www.arundelcastle.org.

The Weald & Downland Open Air Museum www.wealddown.co.uk is not far way. It is the leading museum of historic buildings in England with a fascinating collection of nearly 50 historic buildings dating from the 13th. to the 19th. century, many with period gardens.

Next to the museum is West Dean www.westdean.org.uk West Dean is a unique community of artists, craftspeople, conservators and restorers working alongside gardeners, foresters and builders.

There are a great number of walks along the South Downs and in the western Weald to be enjoyed and Chichester harbour, with its rich and varied wildlife and superb sailing, is a very popular tourist attraction www.chichesterharbour.co.uk.
