Riverhill
Lodge is very peacefully situated with fine
views over the Rother Valley to the South
Downs. Riverhill is within the newly designated
South Downs National Park.
Riverhill,
a hamlet of 3 houses, is in a secluded setting
up a single-track lane. The house has early
17th Century origins; it was considerably
modernised in the latter part of the 20th
Century and refitted completely with new bedrooms
and bathrooms in 2008.
There are good pubs and restaurants locally.
The celebrated Welldiggers
Arms (see website) is comfortably within
walking distance.
Fittleworth has for long been a refuge for
artists and ninety years ago, Elgar lived
and composed in a cottage in the woods nearby
and fished in the lake below the house.
Riverhill is
at the centre of some of the most attractive
sporting and cultural activities in the country
and the area is crisscrossed with footpaths
and bridleways – see
our local area page for more information.
